The purpose of AGAUS is to ensure the National Guard and the National Guard of the United States are organized, equipped, and postured to fulfill their responsibilities across the full spectrum of operations inherent in the National Military Strategy (NMS) and the constitutions of the United States, the various sovereign states, and U.S. territories.
Message from the President
On behalf of the fifty-four Adjutants General of the sovereign states, territories and the District of Columbia, welcome to the Adjutants General Association of the United States (AGAUS) web site. The AGAUS represents the senior leadership of the Army and Air National Guard of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and Territories (Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands).
The National Guard represents: - The 11th largest Army in the World, - The 5th largest Air Force, - 38% of the total U.S. Military Force Structure, and - Over 458,000 personnel serving in 3,600 communities throughout the country.
The National Guard has provided this country's Homeland Defense for over 376 years; we have been a part of every war the nation has fought; and we are always at the forefront during state emergencies and disasters. We are dedicated to continuing this great tradition. Again, welcome to our web site and the Adjutants General Association.
